私たちは自分たちの面白楽しい手作りのものを作るのが大好きです。そこでこの
「Art 征三ハウス」も友人たちの手も借りて作りました。
さて、畳は日本の生活文化の中で、必須のものの一つとして長らく住宅に使われてきています。しかし現在、家の建て替えで出された畳や使い古した畳は「産業廃棄物」扱いをされている状況です。これはたいへん残念で、もったいないことです。そこでなんとかこれを再利用する方法はないかと考えているうちに「畳ハウス」の発想を得ました。これは畳を床に敷くのではなく、壁材として利用するという意味での「畳ハウス」です。
畳はご存知の通り藁で出来ており、その無数の藁の一本一本には僅かずつですが、空気が含まれています。そこでこれを壁材として使うことによって、年間を通じて優れた調温・調湿効果が得られます。また室内の音も跳ね返らない柔らかい音になります。
また将来解体される時期が来ても、材料のほとんどは良質の堆肥に返って地味を豊かにするのに貢献します。その点ほぼ完璧なエコフレンドリーな建物になっています。
さらに、外壁には日本を代表する絵本作家・画家の田島征三さんによる壁画が描かれています。この建物の名前の由来です。
建物の立っている丘にはその田島征三さんと松本ガリュウさん（音楽家・ロバの音楽座主宰）の共同作品である巨大なアート作品、「どうらくオルガン」が立っています。そのはるか彼方には浅間の連峰が見渡せます。
また丘の反対側には美しく手入れされた林があり、ゆっくり憩えます。またこの辺りは御牧ヶ原と呼ばれる美しい大地で、トレイルコースなども整備されています。
私たちはこのようにアートと自然、面白楽しい小屋などが大好きです。ですからアウトドア派の方や、アートや物作りがお好きな方たちには自信を持ってお薦めできる場所です。ゆっくりとアートと美しく平和な自然の中に浸かってみませんか。またここで何かを作りたい方や、作るお手伝いをしたい方も大歓迎です。

In that respect, it has become an eco-friendly building almost perfect. In addition, a mural by Seizo Tajima, one of Japan's leading picture book writers and painters, is painted on the outer wall.
This is the origin of the name of this building. On the hill where the building stands stands, there is a huge art work, "How a Raft Organ", which is a co-production of seizan Tajima and Mr. Galyu Matsumoto (musician and donkey's music host).
Far away, you can see the Asama mountain range. On the other side of the hill is a beautifully well-maintained forest where you can relax and relax.
